The question of how do we know the will of God is answered in the Person of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that he always said what God told him to say and did what God told him to do. Did Jesus ever make anyone sick? Only the wicked Pharisees. OK, did Jesus ever heal anyone? YES! The Bible says that he healed “everyone” who came to him with faith in the healing power of God that he constantly manifested.
A classic record is in John 9:1ff, where Jesus came upon a man who had been born blind. When his disciples asked him the curious question: “…who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus in essence replied: “That’s not the question. This guy is blind, and that’s tragic. The question is, “What are we going to do about it?” And Jesus healed the man.
What we see in that record is that Jesus was appalled at the Devil’s status quo. E.g., Luke 13:10–17, where Jesus specifically said that Satan was responsible for crippling the woman. A classic verse is Acts 10:38 (NKJV): “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with Holy Spirit and with power, who went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
We know from God’s Word that He and the Lord Jesus are both ABLE and WILLING to heal us, and to do whatever else we need them to do to help us. Scripture says that the key to healing is our faith, which is the only variable in the “equation.” After Jesus healed a woman who had been hemorrhaging for 12 years, he told her, Your faith has made you whole. Because we know that faith is not a force, we can understand what he meant: her trust in him accessed his healing power. Likewise, our faith can meet God’s provision. We can put our faith in the person of Jesus Christ, who has proven his love for us by dying for us.
2 Corinthians 1:18–20 tells us that God is not a “Yes and No” God, and that “all the promises of God are ‘YES!’ and ‘AMEN!’ in Christ. We stake ourselves to that truth no matter what happens, knowing that God and Jesus want the best for us at all times and are fighting for us with all they have. We never abandon what we do understand from God’s Word because of what we do not understand experientially.
