A Lovely Church

The Church belongs to Jesus, and with great determination, he is working to restore it as one unified body under one head—himself. However, in its current state, the Church is divided and, consequently, weak. Clearly, this is not what God intended.

In this teaching, “A Lovely Church,” we will explore what the Body of Christ so desperately needs: the love of God. Without love, the Church flounders ineffectively; but with love, we can stand united as a powerful testimony to Jesus’ accomplishments.

How can we move from where we are now to a place of unity? Our starting point will be the example of the early Church and the frequently used phrase “with one accord” in the book of Acts, which vividly portrays the attitude of heart that characterized the early Church from its birth on the Day of Pentecost.

This teaching will enlighten you on how the early followers of Jesus, by submitting to his lordship, became “A Lovely Church”—a beacon of light and hope for those trapped in the darkness of this present age.

  1. AMEN a million times!!! This is something I’ve thought about often and have even tried to share with people in The Way, even recently. You are spot on—when we try to become doctrinal police, we end up isolating ourselves and then wonder why we have hardly any friends. Been there, done that.

All have been invited to sit at Christ’s table, so who are we to say they shouldn’t be there?

I’m currently attending a church that teaches the Trinity. I don’t accept that doctrine, but I can understand—at least to some degree—how they think. They are wonderful, loving, and caring people with a passion for the Lord. The church is growing by leaps and bounds and contributes in a huge way to our community. I thank God for them.

    Thank you, Gary.
